How Can I Become A Volunteer?
There are no special requirements to become a volunteer. We will teach you how
to use RT's (handheld PRS radio's), traffic management, crowd direction & protection,
carpark safety & parking. We provide you with RT's, hi-viz safety vests
and other things required for your task. Most of our event organisers provide
food,
drink
& promotional wear!
What you will need to bring with you: appropriate dress (tidy attire
such as t-shirt, shorts/jeans are acceptable, but torn, smelly, dirty
clothes are not), suitable footwear such as runners, sneakers
& shoes
(jandals, high heals,
open toed footwear
are not acceptable as you
may be standing for periods at a time), sun-block & hat (for outdoor
events), rainwear (if the weather turns bad), any medications you
require, a sense of humour and the willingness to help!
Smoking is tollerated, but not permitted if you are on duty dealing
with public.
We do not tolerate alcohol, drugs, rude or obnoxious behavior.
Remember, we are the ambassadors of the event organisers,
and public either enjoy or dislike the event based on their first
contact (YOU!).
If you would like to come out and help us out at one (or two, or
more) of our events, click on the Contacts Link below and send us
an E-mail.
How Can I Join Your Club?
Perhaps you would be interested in becoming a member
of our club and joining our communications team? It isn't necessary
to own
a
CB/PRS set and it would be a whole new world of experience -
and an ideal way to make new friends!
Are There Any Requirements to be a CB/PRS
Operator?
A Citizens Radio operator doesn't
have to pass an examination to go on air. All you need is a New
Zealand type approved CB/PRS
set,
and aerial and a unique call sign - which you can obtain from
your local Radio Spectrum Management office (in the Government Department
listings in the phone book). If you wish to proceed further,
it
can be a great stepping stone to amateur radio.
